Burnsville is one of the southern suburbs of Minneapolis and St. Paul. It is located about 25 minutes south of the metro area. It is also one of the suburbs people are referring to as “South of the River”, meaning south of the Minnesota River.

There are two downhill ski areas near by, Buck Hill which is located in Burnsville and Welch Village which is a much larger ski area and that is about a 50 minute drive. There are many golf courses to choose from in all price ranges from public to private. Burnsville features many shops including several different grocery stores like Cub Foods, Rainbow Foods, Target/Archer Farms and Byerlys. The closest Hospital is The Ridges located in Burnsville. The Burnsville area has many strip malls including Antiques Minnesota, Aurora Village, Burn haven Mall, Burn hill Plaza, Burnside Plaza, Burnsville Crossing, Burnsville Market Place, Cobblestone Court, Grand Market Square, Towne & Country Mall and Valley Ridge Shopping Center. The Minnesota Zoo is located in Eagan which is about a 15 minute drive. There are 2 water parks nearby as well.
Burnsville is the 10th largest city in Minnesota. It became an official city in 1965. It currently has over 60,000 residents and 80 restaurants.
